U.S. Whitewater Center Description
White-knuckled grips on paddles, hesitant downward glances from climbing walls—this unique adventure center and Olympic training site, home of the largest man-made whitewater river in the country, offers plenty of daredevil challenges. But even timid kids find a lot of opportunities for adventure—the instructors and guides gently encourage kids to go a little further. By the end of a kayak lesson, one initially wary boy was gleefully turning his boat upside-down. Activities include whitewater rafting and kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, bike rentals, a high ropes course, and a mega zip line.

Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Try ecocaching, in which kids use GPS units preprogrammed with waypoints to find "ecocaches" on the 307-acre property. Each box contains a nature lesson.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Kids must be at least 11 years old to go whitewater rafting.
Planning Notes
- Plan for lunch. The onsite restaurant, River's Edge, is perfect for refueling after tackling the rapids.
- Save money. Whitewater rafting is significantly less expensive on weekdays.
