Discovery Place Description
This hands-on science museum engages kids from the moment they walk in the door with exhibits that skillfully teach the principles of physics, the history of dinosaurs, the ins and outs of weather forecasting, and the engineering that goes into constructing a skyscraper, all in a compelling environment that encourages exploration and emphasizes fun. Kids lift vehicles using levers, test their volleyball skills in front of a blue screen, build complex structures using deceptively simple blocks, and more.

Kid Tips
Babies: Uncluttered and easy to navigate, Discovery Place is stroller-friendly.
Toddlers & Pre-K: KidsPlace, on the first floor, is a large area devoted to kids 7 and under. It features water play, a tree house with a slide, and a toddler area. Also not to be missed are the puppet shows, performed several times a day.
School-Age Kids: Make sure to visit Einstein's Corner on the second floor, where a scientist wows kids with demonstrations and offers tips for trying the experiments at home.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids will get a kick out of some of the exhibits, but what they'll really love is iMax Dome, which shows both educational and popular movies.
Planning Notes
- Membership has privileges. If you have a membership with a science or children's museum back home, check to see if it has reciprocal privileges with Discovery Place.
- Hoop-playing rats. One of the most popular (and certainly unique) features at Discovery Place is Rat Basketball. Rats are trained to play each other in a game of hoops. Check the schedule when you arrive—you don't want to miss this.
