Maid of the Mist Boat Tour Description
"Are we going in it?" one 6-year-old asked as the boat slid closer to the Falls. Join fellow blue windbreaker-wearing guests for this classic Niagara Falls tour. The unique boat's eye view gives you a taste of what all those barrel-jumping daredevils had to face. Sunglasses help protect little eyes from the spray and allow them to make out more of what they're seeing.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The deck is very slippery and the boat can rock quite a bit. Brace yourself for the standing-room-only ride.
Pre-Teens & Teens: They'll inevitably head for the top deck, which gets most of the splashing action. Windbreakers won't keep you dry up there.
Planning Notes
- It can be a bumpy ride. If you'd rather sit it out while bigger kids participate, you'll get a good view from the observation deck above.
- Pay to park. Parking is $10.
- Choose your spot. Head for the top deck to ensure a wild ride and a bad hair day, or hang out below for a tamer experience.
- Stop by the gift shop on the way out. Skip the 24k gold in a bottle (the gold's from California and the bottle's from China); opt instead for a 3-D magnet replica of the Maid of the Mist or a stuffed duck wearing the famous blue windbreaker as a souvenir.
- Kids under 5 are free. Kids 6 to 12 are $7.50, but younger kids are free as long as they're traveling with an adult.
