Cave of the Winds Description
Younger kids start getting giddy in the 17-story elevator ride down to the bottom of the Bridal Veil Falls; being able to hear and feel the power of the water leaves kids of all ages speechless. Marvel at one of the world's natural wonders, then gather the older kids for the hike up to the Hurricane Deck (where you'll be drenched from the cascade) or walk back along the bottom with younger ones who aren't quite ready for that up-close-and-personal encounter with Mother Nature.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Even babies are allowed to go to the base of the falls, but make sure you're comfortable holding on to little ones in the windy, wet surroundings. Stress the "no running" rule.
Pre-Teens & Teens: The hurricane deck, a wooden landing that puts you as close as possible to the waterfall, will be the big draw for this age group.
Planning Notes
- All lit up. Go at night for a spookier experience and a unique view of the falls.
- Prepare for a shower. Guides provide special footwear and a cape, but you'll still get soaked.
- Bring towels, but leave them in the car. If you take them with you, they'll be soaked, too.
