Children's Museum of the East End Description
"Sheer delight" is the best way to describe the look on kids' faces as they walk into the Children's Museum of the East End. CMEE is on the small side, but full of surprises, like a giant Mr. Potato Head. Kids can dress up (one little girl manned the helm of a ship in a fireman outfit), bang on instruments, or just curl up with a book. Every Wednesday evening in season, sit outside with a picnic and rock out to a Whirligig Wednesday concert featuring performers such as the Dirty Socks Funtime Band.
Kid Tips
Babies: There is a cozy padded area for the wee ones, plus a comfortable chair for breastfeeding, and a changing table in the bathroom.
Planning Notes
- Leave the stroller in the car. They're not allowed inside the museum.
- Come on a "beach day." That's when the museum is least busy.
- Eat beforehand. There are only vending machines available and no food allowed inside the museum.
- Check the schedule. CMEE lures local residents such as Hilary Knight out to read at its monthly Pizza Pajama Party.
