Olympic Jumping Complex Description
"Awesome!" or "Are you nuts?!" You decide. Either way, the enclosed view from the top of the 120-meter ski jump gives some eye-opening perspective to what those Olympic daredevils see prior to releasing the gate and careening down, end over end, before landing on two little slabs of skis. On a mountain. In the snow. In warmer months, the crazy, brave souls hit the slopes on roller skis. An astounding sight no matter what time of year you see it.
Kid Tips
Babies: Visitors will have to take a chair lift to reach the elevator into the jump tower. If you're visiting with a baby, ask about driving to the elevator instead.
School-Age Kids: Apart from the view, the coolest part for them may be the return trip, and the fact that you get to ride the chairlift back down the mountain, something you never get to do when you ski.
Pre-Teens & Teens: In summer, the complex's pool opens to jumpers-in-training who launch big tricks from smaller platforms near the water. Expect older kids to want to grab a seat in the bleachers and spend awhile gawking at the action.
Planning Notes
- Discount. The ski jump is one of the attractions on the Olympic Passport that allows you to visit multiple sites for a discount price.
