Six Flags Great Escape Description
If names like Canyon Blaster and Mega Wedgie are your speed, Six Flags has got your number. Strap in, bluckle up and blast off, up inclines, around loops, through corkscrews and then upside down, 50 miles-per-hour, 192-feet up and backward. The more faint of heart can opt for Alice in Wonderland or pretty much anything in Wiggles World. There are shows and food, too. Just make sure to eat after the Tornado. Bottoms up!
Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: At Six Flags, you pay by height, not age. So kids less than 48 inches (the optimal height to ride absolutely everything) will still pay the junior price. On the other hand, it's not a bad idea to scour the height requirements before visiting to avoid surprise disappointment.
Planning Notes
- Save, save, save. Check the Web site for online discounts. A recent program offered six days for the price of one, a bonus for those in town for an extended vacation.
- Steer slear. If your plans don't include the park, avoid the main drag (Rt. 9) in Queensbury as the rides run right along the road, meaning you'll either have to cave in, or listen to cries of "Please, please, please" for the duration of your stay.
- Line cutting. Ask about the park's FlashPass system that allows you to avoid spending the day waiting in line. There's an extra charge ($10 to $20 per person, depending on the plan you choose) so you'll have to do some homework to decide if it's worth the price.
- Cool off. Admission includes entry into the water park next door.
