El Rancho de Los Golondrinas Description
The Ranch of the Swallows is a restored Spanish colonial rancho built in the early 1700s, and located 15 miles south of Santa Fe. Now a living history museum, it offers a fascinating picture of Southwestern life on the "Royal Road" from Mexico City to Santa Fe. Some of the restored buildings open for visiting are an operational water-powered flour mill, a dye shed, and a ranch store complete with the types of supplies you might have bought 200 years ago. Kids will love watching costumed volunteers card wool, tool leather, and forge metal in the blacksmith shop.
Kid Tips
Babies: Bring a stroller, frontpack or backpack, as the ranch property is very large.
Toddlers & Pre-K: The dancers in brightly colored costumes will captivate little ones.
School-Age Kids: The American Girl Tour featuring Josefina will be a huge hit with girls this age.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Kids who like crafts will get the most out of the weaving and other workshops.
