Wildwood Beach Description
The phrase "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply to Wildwood Beach. It's free and it's fabulous, consistently ranked among the best beaches in the world. Even on the most crowded days, there's plenty of room to set up camp with towels, beach chairs, and an umbrella, plus play some Frisbee or football. When hunger strikes, eat your way through the fudge funnel cake, pizza, kettle corn, and cotton candy offerings of loads of fantastic eateries until you're ready to go back and lie on the beach again.

Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Bring a bucket and shovel and join other sandcastle builders.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Check with beach patrol about the areas where surfing is allowed, which varies. If you're out of luck there, head to the boards for some rides and food.
Planning Notes
- Pack light. The pearly white sand stretches for about a quarter mile before you reach the water.
- Wear shoes. Summer sand can get hot. Do your feet a favor and cover them up.
- Take an early ride. There are a number of bike rental stands, and you can ride on the boardwalk until 11 a.m. For family fun, rent a pedal-powered surrey, which can seat four or five people, to cruise the boards.
- Fun rides. The 38-block boardwalk boasts more rides than Disneyland.
