Historic Cold Spring Village Description
Walk back through time at Historic Cold Spring Village, an open-air taste of 19th century life on a southern New Jersey farm. Kids can see what houses looked like before the McMansion craze (one house is even shaped like an octagon). Exhibitions of crafts and trades of the time, such as how blacksmiths worked metal and how printing was done before ink-jet printers, give the place an authentic feel. Get a giggle out of the tiny jailhouse that was simply a resting spot for those who spent a little too long at the pub.

Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: You might want to pick out one or two buildings to visit first -- short attention spans may find taking in the whole village more than they can handle.
School-Age Kids: The period garb is a favorite with kids. Did people really dress that way?! Oh, and of course, there's ice cream.
Pre-Teens & Teens: If your pre-teen or teen is into history or crafts, this is a good bet. If your older kids begin to shake when away from their computers for too long, you might want to skip it.
Planning Notes
- Check the calendar. Exciting events such as Railroad Days, and Revolutionary War and Civil War re-enactments may influence when you want to visit.
- Walk well. Bring your best walking shoes, as you'll be trekking around.
- Food for all. Hungry? The bakery, restaurants, and ice cream shop should take care of that.
