Village Book Store Description
On a recent visit, two 11-year-olds and their mom were engrossed in regional books and unique puzzles for 45 minutes. Then they realized there was a separate children's area downstairs, chock full of interesting books, high-quality toys and games, and take-me-home-please stuffed animals. The store stocks books and CDs fit for kids 0 to 100, and the knowledgeable, friendly staff will happily make recommendations and then gift wrap for free if you'd like.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: They'll keep busy with the toy castle, a wooden car set, jack-in-the-boxes, balls, tops, and more.
School-Age Kids: It'll be difficult to break them away from the cool hat section (think princess, pirate, birthday).
Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids and preteens will gravitate toward the marianettes, Quadrilla marble sets, and awesome science section.
Planning Notes
- Enjoy small-town America. Leave time to explore the rest of downtown, awarded a Great American Main Street Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation in 2003. The crosswalks read "Stop, Look, and Wave," a true indication of the friendly vibe.
- Don't miss Pollyanna. Before or after you shop, stroll to the library at 92 Main Street, where you can stop on the lawn and rub the shoe of the bronze Pollyanna statue for good luck ("Pollyanna" author Eleanor H. Porter once lived in Littleton).
