Heavenly Valley Ski Resort Gondola Ride Description
A sky ride at this popular ski resort will surely be a highlight of your kids' vacation, and yours, too. From the top you'll glimpse amazing 360-degree views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. (It's also a good way to put the travails of early explorers into perspective: The fact that these pioneers even attempted to cross the Sierra Nevadas makes them seem either very brave or very foolish.) The 2.4-mile, 12-minute ride ends at Lake Tahoe's highest summit where there are plenty of spots to grab a meal -- or hiking trails to explore -- before heading back down.

Kid Tips
Babies: The hiking trails at the top are not stroller-friendly, so you'll have to carry her in a frontpack.
Toddlers & Pre-K: If your child is afraid of heights, you may want to skip this.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Even they will be wowed by the stunning scenery.
Planning Notes
- Bring a camera. You'll want to take the view home with you.
- Prepare for the altitude. Wear sunscreen, dress in layers, and if you plan to hike at the top, bring lots of water.
