Glacier Association Bookstore Description
There's not a lot of shopping available in Glacier National Park, although each of the visitor centers has a bookstore. The biggest is the Glacier Association Bookstore housed in the historic Belton Railroad Depot. Trains still go by (and stop), much to the delight of little kids. You can find plenty of books on the region ("Who Pooped in the Park?" is a favorite with kids), postcards, calendars, puzzles, a few games (National Parks Monopoly), and various park items, such as a map of Glacier National Park printed on a bandana.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: They have a few picture books, but there's not a lot to enthrall toddlers here. The trains arriving are exciting, but they only come twice a day (about 8:15 a.m. and about 8:30 p.m.).
School-Age Kids: Stop by on your way to the Blackfeet Reservation -- reading one of the Blackfeet stories for kids (try "Om Kas Toe," by Kenneth Thomas) may whet their appetite for the exhibits.
Planning Notes
- All aboard! The train stops here twice a day, which might be the most exciting time for the youngest ones.
