St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Description
The soul of baseball—fans who truly care and the team that loves them back—lives in St. Louis at Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals play in the National League. Kids get a kick out of the new stadium, with its Family Pavilion offering a toddler play area and a chance to hit in the batting cage or throw against a speed gun. Besides witnessing batting practice, which begins up to two hours before game time, early arrivers are entertained by a band in Ford Plaza beyond center field.
Kid Tips
Babies: The under-2 set are the target of the For Baby & Me section of the museum, offering gentle places to explore, including a baby gym and a miniature school bus.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Staging puppet shows and crawling through tunnels, kids between age 2 and 6 love Magic House most for all the entertaining play it offers.
Planning Notes
- Don't cheer the opposition. St. Louis takes its Red Birds very seriously. Try not to see your hometown team here, which will allow you to root, root, root like everyone else for the guys in red.
- Bring cash. As at any major league sporting event, all the concessions here are frankly over priced. Nonetheless, the occasion calls for hot dogs and peanuts.
- Take home a personal souvenir. St. Louis-based Build-A-Bear has a concession here where you can build Fredbird, the Cards' cartoon mascot bird.
- Hit the restroom together. Family restrooms include changing tables and nursing rooms.
