Six Flags St. Louis Description
Teens are totally into Six Flags, where they can scare the life out of you while they ride the coasters hands-free. Let them head straight for the marquee rides, including a retro wooden coaster with 16 hills devoted to daredevil Evil Knievel. Meanwhile you can ride with smaller kids (generally 42 inches is the minimum requirement) on tamer go-karts and river rides where there's plenty of excitement for both generations. Everyone comes together at Hurricane Harbor, the adjacent water park that's included with admission to the amusement park.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Normally this age set is too young for most amusement parks, but Six Flags offers a slew of gentle, cartoon-themed trains, slides, and carousels for the littlest ones.
Pre-Teens & Teens: For an additional $20, the "flash pass" allows kids to reserve their place in line without waiting in it, while the device lets you know when to queue up.
Planning Notes
- Start early. It's a 30-mile drive from downtown St. Louis via highway, which is quick, but you'll need to make an early start to avoid the lines that build throughout the day.
- Pack for it. If you're planning on taking advantage of both amusement and water parks, take a change of clothes and leave the gear in a rental locker.
- Make a plan. Hit the big rides early, and eat before noon or after 2 p.m. to avoid long waits. End the day splashing at the water park for best results.
