Arabia Steamboat Museum Description
Enter the Arabia Steamboat Museum and you become a part of local history. Throw in a few tales of treasure hunting, and most kids will be hooked on the tale of the ill-fated Arabia and her cargo, which seems all the more precious today when viewing the necessities of everyday life that traveled along the Missouri River more than a century ago. Located in the colorful City Market district, grab a coffee and browse the shops after touring the museum.
Kid Tips
Babies: The tour is sufficiently brief to allow babies to tag along without too much fuss. Family-friendly restrooms are located on the lower level across from the theater.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Little kids might not be engaged by the initial talk and video presentation, but they are sure to be wowed by the big (replica) paddlewheel.
School-Age Kids: Tell kids to pay attention to the short video that describes the discovery of the Arabia, because someone starring in it might appear and give a talk after the lights come on.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Questions are encouraged during the tour, so tell older kids not to be shy and ask any questions they might have about treasure hunting and the preservation of artifacts.
