Ralph Foster Museum Description
Easily one of the nation's quirkiest, most entertaining museums, the Ralph Foster Museum is not to be missed. Located on the campus of the College of the Ozarks, it houses a funky compilation of the collections of Foster and other Ozark families, and is fascinating in its variety and depth. Everyone in the family will have a favorite -- from the Native American arrowheads and artifacts to the children's toys to the stunning display of firearms, shells, and trophy animals (including Bengal tigers, polar bears, grizzly bears, and even common squirrel). The Foster is a delightful, hidden gem.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The Kewpie doll collection and circus memorabilia on the first floor, plus the animal displays on the second floor, will fascinate youngsters.
School-Age Kids: A few times daily, student docents lead short, hands-on programs for kids covering certain aspects of the massive exhibit. Call ahead for the schedule and times.
Planning Notes
- Hard to find via GPS. Just outside Branson; take US 65 to Hollister, exit west on Main Street Exit and follow the signs for the College of the Ozarks.
- Two for one. Never fear if an after 3 p.m. arrival is imminent; tickets purchased after that time are good for a return visit the next day.
- Closed for the holidays. The museum is closed the week of Thanksgiving, and from mid-December through January.
