Branson Scenic Railway Description

Travel back through time in vintage train cars on this 40-mile roundtrip journey through the Ozarks. Along the way riders are treated to entertaining stories and learn the fascinating history of the area, including about the battles of the Baldknobbers and how Branson became an entertainment Mecca. But the real highlight is the scenery, which includes Lake Taneycomo, the knobs, and trestle bridges.

Kid Tips

Pre-Teens & Teens: Walking between the vintage cars is perfectly acceptable and a fun way to experience train travel from different eras.

Planning Notes

    • Line up. With its glassed-in aerie, the dome car offers the most panoramic view. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to departure to secure dome car seats (even earlier during the summer months and holiday weekends).
    • Snack time. Bring snacks along for the ride, as the onboard nibbles are quite expensive.
    • Skip the dinner excursion. The views are the same, and a much nicer dinner can be had for much less in Branson. Try Rocky's or Cantina Laredo -- both just a block from the depot -- to cap a train ride.
    • Do a switcheroo. Switch seats (so you face the opposite direction) on the return journey to see the route from an entirely different perspective.
