Table Rock State Park Description
Lush Table Rock Park offers a bit of hiking to balance out the many opportunities for fun on the water, from renting jet skis and pontoon boats to joining a catamaran cruise or parasailing. The paved hike and bike trail leads from the marina to the visitor center, with plenty of chances along the way for kids to explore the shoreline for rocks, dip their toes in the water, or simply scout for wildlife. A well-equipped playground for climbing, a nature center packed with (taxidermied) native animals, and the promise of a refreshing swim in the lake will keep them moving on the trail.
Kid Tips
Babies: The Lakeshore Trail (suitable for biking and hiking) is an excellent strolling opportunity; the just over two-mile loop goes from the marina to the visitor center and offers a picnic pavilion and playground along the way.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Go for all-out adventure on the catamaran, where they can swing into the water and jump like crazy on (and off) the water trampoline. For families with older kids, the boating and swimming can be an all-day affair.
Planning Notes
- Plan ahead. Advance reservations in this park are essential, whether for the campgrounds, a chartered sail, or watercraft rental, as all fill up quickly in the warmer months.
- Fee free. There's no fee to explore the park, but there are fees for watercraft rental, campsites, and the catamaran.
- No worries. The excellent shop at the marina has just about anything you may need, from swimsuits and sunscreen to toys; snacks and beverages are also available and there's a seasonal grill that serves up burgers and hot dogs waterside.
