Three Bear Waterpark Description

Indoor waterparks have become ubiquitous in northern climates over the past few years, but it can be difficult to find one that pleases the whole family. The Three Bear Lodge Waterpark inside the Holiday Inn Express in Brainerd has something for everyone, including a kid-friendly hot tub (as well as one for adults only), a lazy river, three different waterslides with varying levels of intensity, and a water play area that bigger kids will love. Plenty of attentive lifeguards make the experience safer, and the park is small enough that you can keep an eye on more than one kid at a time.

Kid Tips

Babies: The water at the edge of the zero-entry children's area pool area is shallow enough for a crawling baby to splash and play, and warm enough for parents to sit alongside them. If your baby isn't sure about getting wet, try taking a ride on a tube in the lazy river with your baby lounging on your stomach. Helpful lifeguards are available to give you a hand getting in and out of your tube and getting your baby situated.

Toddlers & Pre-K: Smaller tykes love the Treehouse Activity Area, equipped with sprayers, fountains, and a smaller version of the "big kid" slide. But if you hear a clanging bell, watch out! That means that a huge tipping bucket is about to dump 1,000 gallons of water on anyone within a 10-foot radius -- with enough force to knock smaller children off their feet. You'll want to be sure your tot is up for it before he or she gets a wet surprise.

School-Age Kids: Most kids this age will be big enough to ride both of the "big" water slides, and they'll get a kick out of the lazy river which is shallow enough for a 7-year-old to stand in easily.

Pre-Teens & Teens: The Polar Express and Grizzly Express slides are big and exciting enough to keep teens entertained for hours.

Planning Notes

  • Spend the afternoon. Most kids can spend hours at a waterpark before they get tuckered out.
