Wabasha Cave Tour Description
Once a speakeasy and hangout for mobsters, the Wabasha Street Caves -- an event hall carved into the sandstone caves along the Mississippi River in St. Paul -- now offers a variety of unique guided tours, including the St. Paul Gangster Tour, Twin Town Tacky Tour (about '70s history), and Uff-Dah Tour (exploring Scandinavian heritage) led by knowledgeable costumed guides. The caves are also home to a coffee shop and swing-dancing club.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: If your little one is easily frightened, you may want to skip this event. The caves can be spooky, with "ghostly" figures appearing.
School-Age Kids: Older kids with longer attention spans (or an interest in history or fighting crime) will sink their teeth into the fascinating two-hour St. Paul Gangster tour.
Pre-Teens & Teens: On Thursday nights, you can take a swing dance lesson at 6:15 p.m., and there's live music and dancing from 7-10 p.m.
