Underwater Adventures Aquarium Description

Unlike some aquariums where the smallest tots sometimes have to fight for prime viewing space, Underwater Adventures puts viewers right in the middle of marine life: You'll ride a "people mover" through a glass tunnel that's right inside the action. The conveyor belt makes it easy to pace yourself as your kids go nose to nose with sharks, stingrays, giant sea turtles, and other marine life. They'll also get an up-close-and-personal look at their underbellies.

Kid Tips

Babies: Leave the stroller behind and carry your baby. The tunnel can be a bit crowded, and he'll get a much better view of the action from your arms.

Toddlers & Pre-K: Don't let your child miss the opportunity to pet a stingray or touch a shark at the Circle of Life exhibit.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids may get a kick out of the "SeaCrits of Life" exhibit, featuring famous sea creatures from movies and TV.

Planning Notes

  • Go more than once. The “people mover” keeps crowds moving, preventing backups, but you may feel like your visit was over too soon as a result. Your wristband gets you in free all day, so go as many times as you like.
  • Note for the sea lover: If your kids are really interested, for an additional fee (about $6), you can go on a 45-minute behind-the-scenes tour. You'll get an up-close look at the laboratory, feeding kitchen, and a view of the tanks from above. Tours are offered several times daily, check the Website or ticket office for details.
  • The gift shop finale.Your visit ends at the gift shop. Since this offers your kids a myriad of ways to persuade you to drop more cash, be prepared to coax your family away with promises of rides at the Mall of America amusement park or a trip to nearby LegoLand.
