The Music House Museum Description
This is an odd but fun place to bring the kids, particularly those who are musically or mechanically inclined. The museum is home to a massive collection of rare musical instruments dating from 1870 to 1930. The hallmark piece on display is an ornately decorated dance hall pipe organ that stands 18 feet tall and 30 feet wide. Kids will be amazed to learn that it still plays. Also on display is the Traverse Model City, an exhibit featuring scale models of some of the buildings that existed in Traverse City in the 1930s.
Kid Tips
Babies: Some babies might startle at some of the loud sounds the antique organs make.
School-Age Kids: Kids this age will get a kick out of seeing the size of some of the antique instruments and will enjoy the scale model of 1930s Traverse City, too.
Planning Notes
- Free parking. The museum has its own parking lot.
- A quick trip. The museum is located eight miles north of Traverse City.
