Downtown Charlevoix Description

Halfway between Traverse City and Petoskey, Charlevoix is small but worth a stop.Explore shops like Up North Kids Bookstore and Rocking Horse Toys, and then walk along the south pier until you see the Charlevoix Lighthouse. Make a stop at Murdick's Fudge on Bridge Street (the main drag) or grab a latte at the Woolly Bugger (named for a type of fly used in fly fishing).

Kid Tips

Babies: Break out the stroller for wandering through the various shops and grabbing a coffee.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Teens will jump at the chance to get online at the Woolly Bugger, which doubles as an Internet cafe.

Planning Notes

  • Wear comfy shoes. There are a few blocks to explore here and nice walks toward the waterfront, so dress for a long stroll.
