Oswald's Bear Ranch Description
If you'd like to see black bears up close (from a safe distance, of course!), then Oswald's Bear Ranch is a must-visit. The only ranch of its kind in the United States, Oswald's raises rescued bear cubs on its 80 acres, and now has 30 on site. The fenced enclosures mimic the bears' natural habitat, so you can see them frolicking, eating, resting, and playing -- just like they would in the wild.
Kid Tips
Babies: The terrain is not particularly stroller-friendly.
Toddlers & Pre-K: The amount of walking involved might exhaust a young child. But at just $10 per car, the price is a bargain even if you don't see everything.
School-Age Kids: Bear cubs, kept in kennels, are always a favorite part of a trip to Oswald's.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Since all the ranch's cubs are rescues -- not taken from their mothers -- kids (and adults) concerned about ethical animal treatment can breathe easy.
Planning Notes
- Wear comfortable shoes. The ranch is huge, so expect to do a lot of walking.
- Bring your camera. The ranch has photo platforms that give you a bird's eye view of the bears that you'll definitely want to capture.
