Mackinac Island State Park Description
Although Mackinac Island has residential, resort, and shopping districts, the majority of the state's acreage -- 80 percent -- is reserved as a state park. You'll find stone formations like Sugar Loaf and Arch Rock (which looks just like it sounds), canopies of cedar and birch trees, and wildflowers. Explore its many trails on foot, bicycle, or horseback (http://www.cindysridingstable.com/).

Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Head to Ryba's bike rentals first and reserve a bike with a seat or trailer for exploring the park.
School-Age Kids: Since there are no cars, you can really let them fly on inline skates or bikes.
Pre-Teens & Teens: The horse-loving set will love the opportunity to explore the park from a saddle.
Planning Notes
- It's stroller accessible. Michigan's shortest highway, M-185, wraps around the island. Since the island is car-free, the highway provides a safe and solid surface that's friendly to strollers and newbie bicyclists.
