Selvática Extreme Adventure Family Tour Description
Experience the jungle in the Yucatan firsthand without the danger of running into angry howler monkeys or hungry felines. Geared up in a harness, hardhat, and gloves, you start the canopy tour 50 feet in the air where you zip line from platform to platform, enjoying the breeze and the view from the treetops. Then a two-kilometer mountain bike ride (kids and bike-hating grownups can ride in the van) takes you to a "cenote," a natural sink hole which looks like an enormous well, where you can swing out on a rope swing and plunge into the water. The tour price includes hotel pick-up, lunch, and bottled water.
Kid Tips
Babies: Not a place to bring babies, as children must be 3 or older to participate in the tours.
Toddlers & Pre-K: A great adventure for teens who can even do the zip line upside down (with the help of a guide) and hurl themselves from a precipitous height into the sinkhole.
School-Age Kids: May be too intense for most toddlers and preschoolers, although children over 3 are welcome.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Thrill-loving school aged kids will love the zip line canopy tour (they can even try doing it upside down. Don't look, Mom!). Tamer kids will enjoy holding a live macaw and swimming in the sinkhole.
Planning Notes
- Make reservations in advance. Since this is a popular park, reservations should be made three days in advance, by phone or online.
- Bring swimsuits. Bring swimwear, towels, and extra cash. All tours include a light lunch and two bottled waters, though you may want to pack extra snacks for the kids.
- Biodegradable sunscreen only. In order to protect the environment and keep the water in the sink holes clean, Selvática requires you use chemical-free sunscreens and insect repellent.
