Cape Cod Children's Museum Description
This isn't your typical museum -- it's an interactive adventure where your children can climb, make believe, and touch to their heart's content. This large space contains a life-size, bi-level, 30-foot pirate ship stocked with nautical maps and a treasure chest of costumes. Don't miss the newest addition: a submarine (complete with a virtual control screen and working periscope) that "dives" to go explore marine creatures. You'll love seeing them look out the portholes with smiling faces.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The princess castle in the toddler area is full of books, puppets, and other educational toys for little ones to explore.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Although most of the museum is geared toward younger kids, pre-teens and teens will enjoy the planetarium (call ahead for event schedules). Acting classes, science programs, and other older-kid activities are also offered.
Planning Notes
- Check ahead. The museum's summer calendar is chockfull of even more fun -- bubble shows, Nerf volleyball, and puppet shows. Special programs can change without notice, however, so call to make sure your event is still on before you tell the kids about it.
- Beware of rainy days. People line up at the door waiting for the museum when it's raining.
- Some classes are included. Drop-in science and art classes are free with museum admission.
- Eat outside. The museum does not allow indoor eating, but has tables available outside for picnics.
