Provincetown Description
A trip to the Cape without a visit to Provincetown (P-town to the locals) just wouldn't be right. Located at what some call the "end of the earth" because of its remote location, Provincetown is a town unlike any other you'll ever visit (and not just because of the very openly gay and cross-dressing population that most people know it for). Everything about it is unique. You'll find funky crafts produced by local artisans, a thriving theater and music scene, and great shops in which to putz around. Part of Provincetown's local flavor comes from its historical significance as the Province Lands, the true place the Pilgrims first landed in North America.

Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Kids under 5 will tire quickly of walking the streets of this colorful town, but they'll be smitten with the salt-water taffy factory.
School-Age Kids: Be ready to answer questions like, "Why is that man dressed in women's clothes?"
Planning Notes
- Make it a day. Plan other activities in Provincetown, like the Provincetown Trolley, Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum, Race Point Beach, and sand dune tours.
- Don't fret about naptime. The ride out to P-town might be long enough to catch a nap in either direction. It's about 35 minutes from Eastham and 45 from Orleans without traffic or pit-stops, but there will likely be traffic and there are so many cool things to stop for. It's part of the experience!
