Swan Boats of Boston Description
As classic to Boston as baked beans, the Swan Boats are an absolute must in your family's itinerary. Eighteen people can go in one boat, which is paddled slowly by the driver who sits in the back. The ride isn't fast but it's meditative and beautiful. If your kids have read "Make Way For Ducklings," they'll go ga-ga over the boats. And afterwards you can find the sculpture of Mrs. Mallard and her eight ducklings in the Public Garden.

Kid Tips
Babies: A good ride for babies, who will make eyes at the other passengers as well as at the swans.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Ditto for toddlers, though your preschooler might wonder why it isn't going faster.
School-Age Kids: Fun for younger school-aged kids. The over 8 set might enjoy just looking and photographing the swans since there isn't much to the ride itself.
Planning Notes
- Wear layers. Boston weather's fickle, even in the summer, and it may be a little cooler out on the water. So bring a light jacket and a sunhat.
- Buy online. Tickets are very affordable, but the lines in the summer get long. You can buy tickets for your family or as a gift online.
- Walk in the Public Garden. The Boston Public Garden is a beautiful place to explore. Plan to spend some time there either before or after your ride.
