Longfellow House Description
When your family steps into the home of American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and you'll discover many famous faces from history. Longfellow was one of the first American celebrities, made famous by his lyrical and melodic style of poetry and his social circles which included politicians and other well-known writers of the day. Nathaniel Hawthorne, Charles Dickens, and Ralph Waldo Emerson spent many afternoons and evenings discussing writing and issues of the day here in the late 1800s, and President George Washington lived here during the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

- Choose the right tour. Each 45-minute guided tour takes you through the first two floors of the house, but not all tour themes are the same. Be sure to inquire about which cover Longfellow's life and poetry.

Hours: May 1-June 3: Tours offered on Thursday-Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.; June 4-September 30: Tours offered Wednesday-Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Fees: Adults, 16 and older: $3.00; children, 15 and under free
