Sand Beach Description
Actually composed of crushed seashells, Sand Beach is one of the few smooth, non-rocky beaches to be found in the Bar Harbor area. Popular with tourists and locals alike, it's surrounded by hiking trails that lead to other beaches, spectacular ocean views, and the infamous Thunder Hole, where waves (mostly on choppy days) crash into a small inlet cavern, resulting in an exciting "ka-boom!"
