Audubon Zoo Description
You'd need a full day to see all the amazing exhibits at this award-winning zoo, but no matter how tight your schedule, be sure to see the Mayan-influenced Jaguar Jungle, the orangutans in the World of Primates, and the gator feeding in the Louisiana Swamp. Even teens who think they're too old for the zoo will marvel at the 200-pound Komodo dragons and enjoy high-tech simulator rides such as Gorilla Safari, which takes you on a jungle trip to search for endangered mountain gorillas.
Kid Tips
Babies: Wagons and strollers available for rent.
Toddlers & Pre-K: The endangered-species carousel is a must.
School-Age Kids: Active kids will love the new rock-climbing wall, which offers a great view of the zoo.
Planning Notes
- Wear comfortable shoes. The zoo is not tiny; you'll cover a lot of ground just to see the main attractions.
- "But it's a wet heat." During the late spring, summer, and early fall it's just too miserably hot to go during the day. Plan a morning or late afternoon visit.
