Kentucky Horse Park Description
Have a close encounter of the equine kind, from skittish thoroughbreds to lumbering draft horses and even miniature horses. Pony rides and wagon rides, a parade of breeds (including 24 different breeds of horses), a mare and foal show, and horse-drawn trolley rides are part of the four-legged fun, while museums offer an insight into the history of horses in America. Throughout the year, but primarily from spring through fall, the Horse Park is home to world-class equestrian events.

Kid Tips
Babies: The park is stroller-friendly, although the stroller is best left behind or parked out of the way for the trolley ride.
Toddlers & Pre-K: The park has a nice playground for little ones. There's plenty to see and do, but the museums may be a bit tedious for toddlers.
School-Age Kids: This group (and horse lovers of all ages) will find the most delight in a visit to the park, particularly the pony ride and the ability to explore the many barns that stable the 20-plus breeds of horses.
Planning Notes
- Seasonal notes. Some activities, including the parade of breeds, are offered seasonally, with walking tours available the remainder of the year. Check the Web site in advance for the schedule.
- Visit on non-competition days. The park can be a crazy scene during competitive events, and even a day or two on either side of events.
- Limited access during the World Equestrian Games. The park is host to the 2010 World Equestrian Games (the horse Olympics) in September and October, so plan accordingly.
