Canoe Kentucky Description
Kentucky is home to more miles of free-flowing river streambanks than any other state except Alaska, and the Elkhorn Creek is a perfect spot to put in for either a leisurely paddle or a heart-stopping whitewater ride. Canoe Kentucky offers rentals for 6- to 19-mile self-guided canoe trips, plus more adventurous, guided tours on other waterways, and has a fully-stocked shop for canoeing and rafting enthusiasts. Advance reservations are recommended, and shuttle service to the put-in is an extra fee.

Kid Tips
Babies: The company recommends that babies stay on shore, even for parents with plenty of experience.
Toddlers & Pre-K: The "fun float," a two hour, easy route, is best for the youngest paddlers.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Parents with class II experience can give the kids a thrill by braving the longer 7 and 12 mile trips, which feature plenty of action on the rapids.
Planning Notes
- Be realistic. Even the most experienced paddler has to ease up when kids are along for the ride; take into consideration their level of adventure when planning a trip, as the smallest rapids can be a big scare for little ones.
- Shuttles to the put-in point leave on the hour>/b>. Arrive early enough to get fitted for life vests and take care of business.
