Louisville Science Center Description
This downtown Louisville museum teems with hands-on fun, with three floors of interactive exhibits pulling kids into the world of science, from the world around us (Earth science) to the world within our own bodies. From creating free-standing archways to taking on the role of TV weathercaster, kids can delve into the sciences without ever realizing they're learning. Traveling exhibits, an IMAX theater, and a special pre-school play area round out the offerings.

Kid Tips
Babies: The museum is noisy and tough to navigate. Best to skip this one if baby's along for the ride.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Little tykes are most fascinated by the bubble display, from the microscopes that provide an up-close examination of a bubble's anatomy to the stand-in-the-ring bubble maker, where kids try to pull a bubble up around them (something even the parents stand in line for). Little ones will need the help of a taller sibling or parent to work the bubble machine.
Pre-Teens & Teens: While most of the exhibits appeal to pre-teens and under, a whole section of the World Within Us exhibit is tailored to teenagers, showing what it's like to drive while intoxicated, how our words and actions affect our neighbors, and how our choices—healthy and not-so-healthy—affect our bodies.
Planning Notes
- Early birds avoid the crowds. A \visit in the height of summer was chaotic, with bus-loads of camp and daycare kids flowing in at just before the lunch hour. Year-round, it's best to visit early or after lunch to avoid the crowds.
