Lincoln Park Conservatory Description
No matter what the famous Chicago weather outside, it's perpetual, blissful summer at the Lincoln Park Conservatory where palm trees tower, exotic flowers bloom, koi fish swim and waterfalls trickle. Approach it like a hike through the jungle and you'll have most fun following your kid through the numerous walkways and microclimates of four distinct growing houses dedicated to palms, ferns, orchids and annuals. And if the weather is fine beyond the soaring glass-and-steel domes, a vast lawn planted with seasonal annuals makes a fine place to play tag or practice gymastics. Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: After getting their ya-yas out in the park, the tranquility of the Conservatory can help calm and focus the kids. Play "describe that scent" in each room or hold a scavenger hunt to find a flower in every color of the rainbow.
Planning Notes
- Make a strip stop. No matter what you're wearing it seems too humid inside this hothouse; take a backpack to stow coats and sweaters.
