Medieval Times Dinner Tournament Description

It's dinner theatre, 11th-century style. Watch brave knights joust and eat a feast fit for a king (or queen!) at the Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. "Serving wenches" bring the meal -- roasted chicken, vegetable soup, potatoes and spare ribs -- but no silverware. Guests receive a colored crown signifying the knight they are to root for, and the plot unfolds: a love-struck princess, a gallant knight, and of course, games of skill to test the knights' mettle. The "castle" is a bit of a journey out of the city (very close to the airport), but definitely worth the trip.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: The action can be a little overwhelming for young children, who may not understand that the knights are actors and that nobody's life is actually at stake. Talk to them about make-believe before you go so they'll understand that the show is just for fun.

School-Age Kids: They'll get a kick out of eating with their hands (don't worry, napkins are plentiful) and the plotline, where of course, love and honor prevail.

Planning Notes

  • Check the web site for coupons. Sometimes they offer discounts online; check before you book.
  • Protecteth thine wallet. There are a lot of ways to spend extra money at Ye Olde Gift Shoppe and otherwise (i.e., “royalty” additions to your dinner tickets, souvenir photos, etc). If you’re on a budget, talk to your kids beforehand about how much they’ll be able to spend.
