Chicago Children's Museum Description
Located near the front of Navy Pier in the Family Pavilion, the Chicago Children's Museum features 15 permanent exhibits, plus rotating exhibits, all of which are more than enough to keep curious kids entertained. Little ones will especially love the wilderness-themed play area and a replica of Chicago's famous Buckingham Fountain in the Water Works area.

Kid Tips
Babies: Treehouse Trails feature a padded "baby pond" where she can safely crawl, roll, or scoot around.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Be sure to visit the Big Backyard, where animated butterflies actually "land" on your shadow.
School-Age Kids: Brave kids can navigate a rope "bridge" on the Climbing Schooner.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Consider skipping this, since the museum bills itself as being targeted to kids through fifth grade.
Planning Notes
- Split up your group if you have kids of varying ages. Some of the areas geared toward little kids are off-limits to those 5 and older, and they're separated from the rest of the museum by gates and doors. That said, you may have to split up or ask your older kids to sit and watch younger siblings play for part of your visit.
- Go on a Thursday evening or the first Monday of the month. Admission to the museum is free every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on the first Monday of the month for everyone ages 15 and younger. Note: it can get crowded on free days.

What we loved:
There is something for almost every age
What we didn't love:
Chaotic
Kids running EVERYWHERE understandably. However, if you have a small child ours is 17 months, theyre likely to get run over. Also very easy to get sick, as there are tons of things for kids to share. Seems ideal for kids 3-up. L Read More
