Figpickles Toy Emporium Description
A childhood dream come true, a toy lover's paradise and an old-fashioned emporium wrapped up in one at Figpickles, the downtown toy store that's almost as wondrous for parents as it is for children. Toys range from old-school Slinkys and games to classic collectible dolls, modern science kits and giant sock monkeys. A huge selection of children's books promises something for everyone (and highlights the Mudgy and Millie book); a carousel awaits riders and the amazing staff can answer any question about any toy — just ask.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Everything in the store is meant — and encouraged — to be played with, so it's OK to let the little ones roam and play to their heart's content.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Don't think for a minute they'll be left out of the fun; in addition to retro games and gag gifts, they'll love hitting the bathroom, with its awesome night sky show projector.
Planning Notes
- Budget time. Figpickles is one of those stores where the budget can be — happily — blown, as it is so easy to get caught up in the novelties within. Discuss high finance with the kids before ever stepping foot into the store.
- Bjorn it. While the store is certainly stroller-friendly, it can be tough navigating if there's a crowd, so best to carry baby in a Bjorn.
