Falls Park Description
The remnants of the old milling operation at Post Falls, just a five-minute drive from Coeur d' Alene, are viewed through various vantage points. Enjoy a full-on look at the power of the falls to a sweeping view of the calm river upstream on its way to the inevitable rush toward the falls and the river gorge. Along the path, well-thought out signage details the history of the falls and how it powered the growth of the logging business in this area.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The fascination of a dam appeals to every age, so be sure to see simply stand and watch the powerful waer from the wide viewing area.
School-Age Kids: Bring a rod if you've got one; there's a dedicated kid's fishing pond right in the center of the park.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Challenge the older kids to see if they can explain just how a dam harnesses the power of the water to create electricity; there are plenty of interpretive signs along the way to help them understand just how dams are built and how they work.
