Silverwood Description
The Northwest's largest theme park, Silverwood oozes vintage charm and character, thanks to the creative genius of its founder, who built the park around his original collection of big-boy toys — planes, cars and even trains. More than 50 rides, including some old favorites rescued from other parks like two wooden roller coasters. The addition of a seasonal water park means there's double the fun, with easy access between the two areas that's conveinient for parents of little ones, yet gives the big kids their independence.
Kid Tips
Babies: The vintage train circles the park's 220 acres, and is a leisurely ride for little ones needing a break from all the action.
Toddlers & Pre-K: There's a fantastic soft-surfaced splash and spray area for little one in Boulder Beach, with lots of lounge chairs for parents. Also, the Garfield camp area in Silverwood features rides designed especially for the under-42 inch set.
School-Age Kids: Don't tell: but there are bad guys waiting for the train so they can rob it as it circles the park — school-aged kids get a kick out of the sudden action. Any money handed over is donated to a local charity. Also, the Battlezone is a fun, arcade-style game where kids get in a tank and other kids shoot tennis balls at the tank; there's an additional charge for the game.
Pre-Teens & Teens: For adventurous types, the best ride is the Timber Trembler, with its multiple weightless drops.
Planning Notes
- Eat up. Bring your own lunch to keep an eye on the budget; leave it in a cooler in the car — there's no problem coming and going from the park as necessary. Just be sure to get your hand stamped.
- Free floats. The park has a large number of complementary life vests available for the watery fun at Boulder Beach; tubes are also free at each ride, or rent a personal tube for a small fee.
- Chill out. For families wanting a dedicated space to meet and relax, private cabanas at Boulder Beach are $100 for the day, and are easy to get to from all areas of the park.
