What we loved:
Fantastic scenery waterfalls

What we didn't love:
Road is very narrow

We were expecting to see some gorgeous scenery, and we definitely got it! Seeing the rainforest and waterfalls was amazing. BUT I have to say that this drive can be scary if youre not used to driving on mountain roads or at high altitudes. Much of the time, youre driving alongside a very high cliff with no guard rails. This "highway" is really a tiny, super-windy mountain road that can seem to go on forever it took us a few hours, but it was also raining when we went. Honestly, I think this was the most exhilarating part of our Maui trip but also a little scary, so I dont know if Id recommend going with small children. The distraction of having little kids along with you might add to the stress. And - there are no shops, stores, etc to stop at if you need something. This is a road that literally goes through a dense rainforest, so while you can pull over, you cannot get off until youve traveled the entire length to the other side. But that said, it is so worth it. I dont think Ive seen anything like it.
