Farm
Kauai Kunana Dairy Description
A guided visit to this unique family farm includes romping with the baby goats and free range chickens; sampling the cheeses made at the farm as you learn about how to milk goats and make cheese; and also trying the fruits that are in season, like mango, avocado, lychee, citrus, breadfruit, and others. Dedicated to bringing sustainability back to Kauai (where currently more that 90 percent of all food is imported), the folks at this farm will also talk to you about eco-friendly farm practices. The tour includes a breakfast of fruit bread, passionfruit goat cheese, and honey — all made on the farm.
Kid Tips
Babies: Leave the stroller in the car and carry the wee one as the path is not stroller friendly.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Little ones love to hold the baby goats and will also have a chance to pet a chick. For those who can't bear to leave the babies behind, the tour guides will take them back at the end of the walk.
School-Age Kids: The tour is offered for free for those 12 and younger.
Planning Notes
- Wear farm-friendly shoes. You'll be walking among goats and chickens so close-toed shoes or covered sandals are recommended.
- Goats like to eat straw hats. Informal play clothes that you don't mind getting goaty are better than fancy attire for this hands-on tour.
- Directions upon registration. Since this family farm has a small staff, visitors are discouraged from just dropping by. Directions are given once you register for the tour.
