Fort Pulaski National Monument Description
History buffs and little eyes will perk up at knowing this is where rifled cannons were first used in force during battle, and where the use of traditional fortifications crumbled forever. Capable of smashing the fort's walls from more than a mile away, the cannons forced the fort's surrender after 30 hours of assault. Today, you can also hike, bike, and fish along the nature trails here.
