Perfect for train lovers

What we loved:
lots of trains
What we didn't love:
not much of a train ride
Took my 4-year old son to visit during Spring Break 2011. We went on a day the train rides were available. We ate lunch in a converted Dining car before entering the Museum located across the street. He loved being able to walk up to the trains and even walk through some of them. The Conductor took him past the fence to see up close the Locomotive we would be riding on. I was a little disappointed that the train only moves forward, around on the turn table, backs up, and repeats. I thought we would actually go in a circle or travel somewhere briefly. Also, the train is a coal fired one, so be prepared to inhale lots of black smoke. But my son LOVED it, so I cant complain. He also enjoyed watching the model trains running behind a glass window. Perfect day for a train loving 4 year old!!! Read More

What we loved:
hand car ride with my kids
What we didn't love:
train rides are not every day
I would only take your kid here if he/she really loves trains. I visited with a 1-year-old and three-year-old. We went on a Monday and they dont have a train ride that day so it wasnt as good as it could have been. We did get to ride the hand car that you pump yourself so that was fun. Theres a room with model trains behind glass they can watch but mostly its just some old trains outside that they can look at and a wooden model of a train to sit in. My son actually enjoyed playing with the toy trains in the gift shop Thomas the Train just as much. Read More
