Tybee Island Beach, 15th Street Pier Description
Tybee Island, which has expansive stretches of beautiful beaches, is about a 20-minute drive from Savannah. The beach at the 15th Street pier is especially nice for kids because there are seasonal food vendors on the pier and you can walk out to the end and watch people fish. There are covered wooden porch swings by the boardwalks, and little tidal pools of water that are perfect for budding swimmers to wade in. Sun? Relaxation? Sand castles? Warm water without too many tidal waves? This beach has it all.
Kid Tips
Babies: Water, waves, and sand ... a baby's paradise.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Water, smaller tidal pools, and shells to collect -- there's nothing not to love about this beach.
School-Age Kids: If your kid doesn't like this beach try a dolphin tour.
Planning Notes
- Bring an umbrella and sun protection. The Georgia sun forgives no skin type.
- Pay the meter. Parking is rigorously enforced, so make sure you feed the meter on time. It's hungry.
- Bug spray after dark. No-see-ums and mosquitoes materialize as soon as the sun goes down, so bring insect repellant just in case.
