Six Flags Over Georgia Description
People from all over come here to excite, energize, and in the end, exhaust themselves on more than 100 thrilling rides, shows, and attractions. Especially popular are the "crazy eight" -- different roller coasters guaranteed to turn you every which way but loose. The Georgia Scorcher is one of the tallest (107 feet) and fastest (54 mph) stand-up coasters around. For equally serious scare-lovers, the Cyclone has its own brand of chills, with rattling wooden girders trembling as you race along at top speeds. Prepare to get completely soaked if you ride Splashwater Falls, best for older kids. This is a park where your post-stroller-age kids will get the most bang for the buck. Also nearby are Six Flags White Water and American Adventures.
Kid Tips
Pre-Teens & Teens: Big-thrill rides abound here, so this age group is apt to be able to take advantage the most. They'll love you for it.
Planning Notes
- Avoid downtown Atlanta traffic. The busiest times are between 6 and 10 a.m., and 4 and 7 p.m.
- Visit off-peak. Attendance is lightest on weekdays during the summer and any regular operating day during the months of April, May, June, and September.
- Layer and locker. It can get chilly. Pack a sweater or jacket and stow it in one of the park's rental lockers.
- Leave the stroller. You can rent them at the park.
