Imagine It! Atlanta's Children's Museum Description
Although it's not very big, this museum is great and kids love it. Permanent exhibits include the painting wall (they provide the smocks, a paintbrush, and a palate of primary colors), the construction site (where kids crank plastic balls along conveyer belts and mill wheels and then maneuver a crane to put the balls back in a ball pit -- or on a parent's head!), and the dramatically acted-out story time. There are many comfy enclosed areas for very young children.

Kid Tips
Babies: A special area for kids this age has plenty of room to crawl, a huge stuffed caterpillar to drool on, and baby toys that are cleaned daily. There's also a Parents Resource Room and a private place for nursing.
Toddlers & Pre-K: The museum is perfect for this age group, especially the water play area where they can fish for plastic sharks, snakes, and other sea creatures.
School-Age Kids: "I loved it but it was a little babyish!" said one 8-year-old. Dress up, painting, the construction area, and the special exhibits will occupy your younger school-aged kid, but older kids might find the museum on the young side.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Skip this museum if you're traveling with pre-teens or teens, as it's really geared toward younger kids.
Planning Notes
- Double your fun. This museum is right near the New World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium so, though you could easily spend the whole day here, you may want to plan more than one activity.
- Bring some food. Vending machines are available, but there's no restaurant on-site. Bring healthy snacks with you and take a break in your play to eat them in the snack room.
- Buy tickets online. If you're going during school holidays, the museum will be crowded. Skip the long lines by buying your tickets in advance: http://secure2.gatewayticketing.com/cma/webstore/shop/ticket-selection.aspx
- Four blocks from MARTA. Avoid parking hassles and fees by taking MARTA (which your kids will like doing anyway) to the Peachtree Center Station. Take the Harris St. escalator and walk one block to Baker. Turn left on Baker and walk three blocks; the museum is on the right.

Amazing Experience

My husband, 15 month old daughter and I took a family vacation to Atlanta. This museum was the absolute highlight of our trip. Our daughter had so much fun. It was perfect even for her age. She played for hours and literally passed out in my arms while walking back to the hotel. I would strongly recommend that anyone with young children who will be visiting Atlanta not miss the musuem.
