Patrick Roger Description

The sliding doors open and you find yourself ... in a forest. Decorated with color floor-to-ceiling photographs of a leafy woodsy area behind glass (look up at the ceiling, it's on there, too), this chocolate shop has the kind of imaginative and playful chocolate creations that you will find nowhere else in the world. Lifesized seals (the biggest sculptures aren't for sale), a tin of sardines halfway opened with three fat sardines inside, and real eggshells filled entirely with chocolate (for April Fool's Day) are just some of the wonders you'll find in here.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: Everything in this store is behind glass or in glass jars, making it a less than ideal place for a toddler or preschooler. If you're traveling with another adult, let your little one have a peek at the forest and the sculptures and then wait outside while you shop.

Planning Notes

  • Try before you buy. They are happy to sell chocolates by the piece though it is cheaper to buy them by the box so you'll want to taste a few before you choose. This fine chocolate also has a fine pricetag.
  • Don't miss the handmade caramel with lime. An unusual combination that refreshens your mouth.
  • Fruit slices to die for. Made with real fruit, they have flavors you won't find in America like black current and mango.
